Osteopathy
Taking the map pack from an established competitor
A newer clinic sat below a long-established rival on every local search. We won the map pack in both catchments inside seven months.

The situation
Two osteopathy sites eight miles apart, opened within two years of each other. Both were being beaten in local search by a practice that had been in the area since the 1990s and had a considerable head start on reviews and links.
Worse, the clinic's own two locations were competing with each other. A single website listed both addresses on one contact page, so Google could not confidently associate either site with its own area.
What was holding them back
- One website, two addresses, no separate location pages
- Both Google profiles used the same phone number and generic photos
- Primary category set to “Physical therapist” rather than “Osteopath”
- No content targeting the neighbourhoods either site actually served
What we did
Distinct location pages with unique addresses, hours, photography, staff and structured data. Separate tracked phone numbers per site.
Primary category corrected to Osteopath, secondary categories added, all services listed with descriptions, real clinic photography uploaded for each site.
Pages for the specific areas each site served, written around what those communities actually search: desk-based back pain in one catchment, manual-work injuries in the other.
Partnerships with two gyms, a cycling club and a local business network. Coverage in a regional health feature.
What happened
The category correction alone produced a visible movement within three weeks, which is unusually fast and tells you how wrong the original setup was.
By month seven both sites held first position in the map pack for their core terms in their own catchments, without cannibalising each other.
“We had assumed the older clinic was untouchable. It turned out half our problem was a single wrong setting we had never looked at.”
